The Coundon Court
Old Boys' FC was formed in 1981 from the highly successful Coundon
Court School Under 16 soccer squad who carried off two major local
school cup finals, one being the 3-1 victory against Woodlands School
at Coventry City's ground at Highfield Road.
For those interested in history Coundon Court, situated in the leafy
North West of Coventry was once the private residence of George Singer,
the bicyle and car manufacturer (1847-1909). It was his workers who
played for Singer FC which eventually became Coventry City FC. Coundon
Court is now the biggest comprehensive school in Coventry and the
Old House as it is called can be seen from the pitch where the Old
Boys play. |

The majority of the ex-pupils who played in 1980 and a few others
from previous years were the basis of the club who formed to play
and accepted into the Coventry Alliance League in the 1981-82 season.
A pitch was offered by the school, the Parent Teachers Association
bought the first kit - yellow & red vertical stripes, black shorts
and socks - and a bunch of 16/17 year olds, nearly all unemployed,
played their first match against Triumph FC on 29th August 1981 drawing
1-1 with Evans scoring. Promoted in their first season the final statistics
make interesting reading. |

Twenty one years later, the club now runs three teams
in the Coventry Alliance Premier division, and divisions 3 & 4. The
club headquarters are situated in Northbrook Road, Coventry at Northbrook
Road Sports and Social Club where the fine clubhouse, prospect and pitch
make it a unique venue in the heart of a beautiful conservation countryside.
In 2002 the club won both promotion into the top Alliance
Premier division and celebrated its 21st birthday.
